To stop the increasing air pollution in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started the work of water sprinkling on the roads. Under which the BMC has sprinkled water on 154 km long roads in three days. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directed effective measures to control air pollution in Mumbai. According to this, under the guidance of Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. Ashwini Joshi, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Sudhakar Shinde, Deputy Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Chanda Jadhav, various departments of the Municipal Corporation Special measures have been taken to control dust.


A total of 357 roads with a length of 676 kilometers have been selected in 24 divisions with high traffic and dust. A total of 121 tankers are spraying water on these roads daily. BMC Sludge Dewatering, Firex Tanker, Micro Water Spraying Machine are also being used.

Water available through various recycling processes as well as water available from local water sources such as ponds, wells, boreholes are being used for this operation. Spraying has been done on 45 km on November 3, 2023, 55 km on November 4, 2023 and 54 km on November 5, 2023, that is, about 154 km of roads have been cleared of dust in three days.
