Since the last few days, air pollution has been increasing in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Due to which Mumbaikars are facing many health related problems. However, to solve this problem, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now started using fog machines in different areas of the city.


Climate change has also seriously affected the air quality in Mumbai Metropolitan City and Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The BMC Commissioner and Administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal has directed the implementation of measures to address the air quality issue. After which, to control the dust, fog machines are now working at various places including Worli Sea Face, Haji Ali, Peddar Road, Swarajya Bhoomi (Girgaon Chowpatty), Nariman Point, Fashion Street, Badhwar Park and World Trade Center etc.

Mumbai's AQI is relatively lower than New Delhi, but in some parts of the city it is higher than the national capital. According to an Indian Express report, Andheri East recorded AQI levels between 350 and 440 between October 16 and 20. However, it saw a significant improvement with AQI 119 on Sunday. The overall AQI in Mumbai on Sunday stood at 172 on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) dashboard. The AQI in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) was 243, followed by 238 in Colaba, 219 in Sion and Deonar, 216 in Kherwadi and 202 in Worli.
