As part of the beautification program, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will be spending INR 79.68 crore on illumination of all the skywalks across the city. 

The skywalks are at Borivali, Andheri, Goregaon, Santacruz (East), Santacruz (West), Vile Parle, Ghatkopar (East), Ghatkopar (West), Bhandup, Sion, Cotton Green, Nana Chowk and Wadala and has been divided these into A, B, C and D categories.

In ‘A’ category, Electrocul Engineering won the bid and will illuminate skywalks at Borivali and Andheri at a cost of INR 20.52 crore. The same company also won the bid for the 'D' category and will illuminate skywalks at Cotton Green, Nana Chowk and Wadala for INR 17.14 crore.

Meanwhile, ASC Power Pvt Ltd won the bid for the 'B' and 'C' categories that includes skywalks at Goregaon, Santacruz and Vile Parle which will be illuminated for INR 18.05 crore while the 'C' category has skywalks at Ghatkopar, Bhandup and Sion, the lighting for which will be done at INR 18.52 crore.

Within the next two months, these firms have been entrusted to finish illumination work and will also look after the maintenance for the next three years. The illumination will be done using LED strip lights, baton tubes and flood lights.
