The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has invited tenders to beautify spaces below 26 flyovers in and around Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The proposed plan is designed to beautify the space below JJ flyover, Elphinstone flyover, and Love Grove Junction flyover in Worli, among others, in order to provide additional open spaces for citizens to take walks.

The tenders for the same are invited where the document states that the contractors will be able to undertake theme-based beautification of the space which involves providing pathways, decorative lights, lawn, jogging tracks and adequate seating for citizens.

Talking about the same, a senior official from MSRDC said that interested bidders will have to undertake landscaping, beautification, and maintenance for 10 years in exchange for advertising rights.

These spaces below flyovers are currently being occupied by illegally parked vehicles or squatters, and beautifying the same will ensure that these concerns are not raised again.

The beautification will be done on the lines of the previous projects like the Nanalal D Mehta flyover revamp which was completed in 2016. This project was appreciated by the citizens and keeping the same in mind, the civic body has also planned to replicate this model at other flyovers in the city.
