Mumbai- BMC is planning to build eight shelter homes in Mumbai. However, places for these homes are not been finalised yet by the BMC. Initially, eight shelter homes were built which became home to 321 destitute while new shelter homes will have space for 229 destitute. Currently, existing eight shelter homes are build in Kamathipura, Wankhede stadium, Bandra west, Andheri west, Malad east, Borivali east and Matunga. Whereas new shelter homes will be built in Worli, Dharavi, Kennedy flyover, JJ flyover, Mahalaxmi, Andheri East and Malad west.
