Every year, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation spends crores of rupees in order to clean the nullahs and avoid waterlogging in the areas. However, despite the efforts made by the municipal corporation, the local residents tend to throw garbage in the nullahs and thus, making an addition to their troubles during monsoon. 

Accordingly, in order to curb the issue, BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi declared that people throwing garbage in the nullahs will be fined. On Tuesday, the BMC Commissioner had taken a meeting for finding options to deal with waterlogging during monsoon.

Pardeshi has also directed concerned officials to strictly deal with the offenders and take stern action against the people who are found guilty.

Alongside, the BMC Commissioner has also asked the officials to clean the nullahs as per the timetable and if necessary, he has asked them to recruit more workers to clean the nullahs. Meanwhile, the civic body is also trying to install nets above the nullahs to prevent the littering by people.
