Metro 7 and Metro 2A to Be Completed by 2020: CM Devendra Fadnavis

The deadline to complete Metro 2A and Metro 7 project was the end of 2019, however, Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) Devendra Fadnavis conducted a review of the project and extended the deadline to 2020. Metro 2A which will be 18.6 km-long stretch will connect Dahisar to D.N. Road with an elevated corridor via Link Road and will have 18 stations.

On the other hand, Metro 7 will be a 16.5 km stretch connecting Andheri East to Dahisar East via Western Express Highway and will comprise of 16 stations. Till now, 65 and 68 per cent of the work has been completed of Metro 2A and Metro 7 respectively. 

The two lines are expected to cater to 16 lakh commuters in the city. CM Devendra Fadnavis also laid the foundation stone of Mumbai-Trans Harbour and said that the project will be completed in 4 years. Notably, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has proposed to introduce 10 new rakes for the monorail. Monorail Line 1 was inaugurated by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on February 1, 2014.
