Mumbai- A scam of dry and wet waste dustbins has come to the forefront. BJP leader Manoj Kotak has accused the same. “Every family should have got two dustbins of 10 liters but some of the families got only one dustbin, ” said Manoj Kotak. He further added that the three companies were given the contract of manufacturing dustbins. But only one company got the contract and they could not deliver the required dustbins. And so corporators distributed only one dustbin to families.

“Every corporator had asked for two dustbins and so 4-5k dustbins were distributed. But distribution was not done properly,” said Solid Waste Management’s assistant commissioner Vijay Balamwar.

In order to propagate Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan, BMC had initiated the segregation of dry and wet waste and so three lakhs and 10 lakhs worth dustbins were brought. But, in reality, instead of two dustbins, only one dustbin was distributed.
