Since many days now, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), has been increasing the oxygen level in the lakes through bio-remediation process wherein water in the lake is being treated. Post this work, the civic body is planning to take it further by introducing boating in the same lakes at nominal fees.

Since last year, the BMC-appointed contractor has been cleaning lakes at Bandra, Sion, Lotus, Charai and Shantaram area on an experimental basis. The outcome will be observed, and once it shows signs of success, it will then be extended to other lakes.
