1 dead, 17 Injured As Residential Building Collapses In Mumbai's Bandra

According to reports revealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a G+2 structure at Shastri Nagar in Mumbai's Bandra West collapsed on Wednesday night, June 8, around 12.15 am.

In an unfortunate incident, a 40-year-old man died and 19 other have been injured after a three-storey building collapsed in Bandra, Mumbai.

A total of 19 people were admitted of which 17 injured have been discharged and one is still admitted and one was brought dead, said Dr Purva, AMO, Bandra Bhabha Hospital on Thursday morning, June 9.

According to reports revealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), a G+2 structure at Shastri Nagar in Mumbai's Bandra West collapsed on Wednesday night, June 8, around 12.15 am.

The injured have been shifted to the hospital. It has also come to light that all those residing in the building are labourers from Bihar.

"One person has unfortunately passed away in the G+2 house collapse at Shastri Nagar - declared to be DOA. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family. 16 people were admitted with minor injuries. Awaiting reports on others injured Rescue operations still ongoing," tweeted BMC.

Until the last report that came in by BMC at 2 am, at least three to four people were initially suspected to be trapped in the debris while the rescue operations were underway. However, the BMC in a tweet said that more number of people are expected to be injured in the incident and the exact figures were awaited from the hospital.

Soon after, Mumbai suburb minister Aaditya Thackeray took Twitter and stated: 

Ahead of the monsoon, such building collapse incidents have started taking place. However, during monsoon, there are high number of mishaps happen across the city.
