One dead as three-storey building collapses in Bhiwandi

The six-year-old building was in a dilapidated condition and collapsed on a nearby chawl. The incident claimed one life while six people were rescued from the site

One dead as three-storey building collapses in Bhiwandi

A portion of a three-storey building collapsed in Bhiwandi on Tuesday night. While the collapse claimed one life, six people have been rescued, so far. The incident took place in Rasulbagh area. To rescue people trapped under the rubble, fire tenders were rushed to the site immediately.

A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team also reached the spot to assist in rescuing those trapped. The rescue operation is underway. Further details are awaited. 

Three people have been evacuated safely, while five people are reportedly buried under the rubble. The names of those who have been evacuated are Maryam Sheikh (9), Safiyabi Yusuf (60) and Munnabhai Chawla (45).

The building was reportedly constructed six years ago and was in a dilapidated condition and had been empty. The building collapsed on a nearby chawl, where some people were trapped. A member of NDRF told that the situation has been brought under control now.
