A portion of the ceiling collapsed inside the outpatient department (OPD) of Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital in South Mumbai, injuring a patient who was waiting near the registration counter on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 am when debris from the damaged ceiling fell and struck the patient on the head. He was immediately shifted to the hospital’s emergency ward for treatment, and his condition was reported to be stable.
This is not the first such episode at the hospital. In October 2025, a doctor was injured after a similar section of the OPD ceiling gave way.
Although a protective net was later installed, parts of the ceiling reportedly remained exposed and in poor condition. Staff members have expressed concern over delayed repair work and have demanded urgent structural maintenance to prevent further accidents and ensure patient safety.
