BMC, Railways Make Special Arrangements for Mahaparinirvan Diwas

Starting from the early hours of December 5 until midnight on December 6, specific measures, including restrictions on the use of central large foot over bridge (FoB), will be in place.

For Mahaparinirvan Day, many facilities have been arranged by the Maharashtra Government and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the followers visiting Chaityabhoomi in Dadar to pay homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. 

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inspected all the facilities and directed to make arrangements for food for the followers arriving there.

Government Railways Police, anticipating an increased rush, has announced traffic restrictions at Dadar Central and Western Railway stations. Starting from the early hours of December 5 until midnight on December 6, specific measures, including restrictions on the use of central large foot over bridge (FoB), will be in place.

Moreover, Mumbai Traffic Police has imposed several restrictions of vehicular movement and parking for two days

The Skywalk bridge, however, will remain open for commuters. The BMC’s foot over bridge will be available for those arriving at Dadar. Along with this, special facilities are also being provided by the Railways at Dadar Railway Station.

Additional Measures:

1) Inquiry counter and UTS counter at Chaityabhoomi site

2) 2 additional UTS counters at Dadar and CSMT stations

3)18 long distance special train services

4) 12 suburban special train services

5) Help Desk at Dadar Platform No. 6

6) Round the clock medical team at Dadar, Kalyan, Thane, LTT, CSMT stations, ambulance at Dadar station on 5/6 December

7) Chaityabhoomi signage provided at Dadar station

8) 140 RPF and 250 GRP additional personnel at Dadar station.

9) 24 additional RPF at CSMT, LTT, Kalyan stations.

10) Additional Commercial Department staff - 40 in Dadar, 20 at CSMT, 10 in Kalyan, 10 in LTT

11) Monitoring by officials at Dadar Station and Control Office CSMT

12) Additional temporary urinal/toilets at Dadar station premises by BMC
