A five-year-old boy died after a slab in a house collapsed on him on Tuesday midnight in Bhandup. The Bhandup police have registered a case of accidental death in this regard and the police are conducting further investigations.


The incident took place around midnight in a house on the third floor of Zakaria building in the Crossroads area of Bhandup. Taseeb Shaikh (5) lived with his parents on the third floor of the building. At night, Taseeb was sleeping in the house. Suddenly the roof slab fell on him. Taseeb was seriously injured. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital here. But the hospital doctors declared him dead.

This incident occurred at the Shripati Apartments on Shrikant Palekar Road in Chandanwadi on Sunday evening, January 22, stated Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.

The deceased was identified as Krishna Patel. She was rushed to a hospital in Girgaon where she breathed her last at 1:30 am in the ICU, the official exclaimed. Later, the debris was removed by the fire brigade, who also cordoned off the site as a precautionary measure.
