CIDCO Demolishes 2,102 Structures, Reclaims over 2 lakh square metre of area

Under the guidance of  Vijay Singhal, VC & MD, CIDCO, the department of Controller Unauthorised Constructions (CUC) (Navi Mumbai and NAINA) headed by Suresh Mengade, Chief Vigilance Officer, CIDCO has conducted demolition drives against the encroachments/unauthorised constructions in CIDCO’s jurisdiction in the year 2024 and demolished 2,102 structures and reclaimed the area of 2,06,431 square meter.

CIDCO regularly takes action against encroachments, unauthorised constructions raised in a well-planned city of Navi Mumbai which not only hinders the development of the city but also disfigures it.

CIDCO had organised 547 demolition drives and demolished 2,102 encroachments and unauthorised constructions successfully during 302 drives. Among the demolished constructions were temporary structures, RCC structures, stalls etc. Before the demolition drive, 2,160 notices were issued to the owners of encroachments/unauthorised constructions regarding demolishing the constructions under MRTP Act. During these drives, the senior police inspectors from police stations under the jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai Police provided adequate police protection from time to time.

The projects like Navi Mumbai International Airport, Atal Setu (MTHL), Ulwe Coastal Road, Navi Mumbai Metro, CIDCO’s housing projects have been developed in Navi Mumbai area while other infrastructure projects are either underway or planned. On this background, as Navi Mumbai's reputation grows internationally, the demolition drives ensure that encroachments and unauthorised constructions do not obstruct the city's development.

Apart from demolition drives the notices issued by the CIDCO to the owners of encroachments/unauthorised construction are published in newspapers from time to time to warn the citizens. CIDCO also advises citizens to carefully verify construction-related documents before purchasing a flat or shop in Navi Mumbai or the NAINA area to avoid any potential financial deception.
