Treading on the steps of the Centre, after the considerable rise of 62% in prices of the domestically produced gas, last week, on Monday, the Mahanagar Gas too surged the retail price of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 2 each with prompt effect, reported the PTI.
Considering the significant rise in supply-side expenses, the entity is provoked to raise the base price of CNG by Rs20/kg as well as domestic PNG by Rs 2/SCM in and near the vicinity of Mumbai, stated the MGL through means of a statement.
Taking into account that re-gasified liquefied natural gas price now is too at a historical high, according to the MGL these facets have caused a considerable surge in gas costs being acquired by it. These factors have compelled the company to move the price change in a progressive way as the increase in rate which is through the supply end is too big to be shared in one instance, the firm stated.
Thus, the reviewed dispensed price comprising of taxes of CNG and domestic PNG in Mumbai and its vicinity will be Rs 54.57/kg, Rs 32.67/SCM for Slab 1 customers and for Slab 2 customers it will be Rs 38.27/SCM.
Even with these price alterations, CNG continues to be cheaper by 65% in contrast to petrol and 44% compared to diesel. Domestic PNG, on the other hand, is economical by 34% as opposed to LPG.
