CST- Construction workers to get their outstanding allowances protested in Azad Maidan on Tuesday.

Construction workers association president Shankar Pujari said that there are around 35 lakh construction workers in Maharashtra.

Out of that only 5 lakh, 22 thousand are registered workers. A huge amount of Rs 6 thousand crore is accumulated with Construction Workers Welfare Board put of which only 122 crore is expended.

Pujari said that amount is neither used for children of workers nor for the widows of workers are not getting any benefit of any pension scheme.

According to Pujari in various parts of the country, there is a scheme wherein the government has made free marriage for daughters of construction workers but in Maharashtra, there should be schemes like that.

Pujari further said that a cheque bearing amount of Rs 17 crore, 59 lakh has bounced but still no actions have been taken. Prabhakar Shinde, Madhukar Khilare, Sanjay Mandavdhare and other worker leaders were present for the protest.
