Mumbai records 1,498 new cases of COVID-19 Total reaches to 97,950

The increase in the number of cases is also creating a burden on the health facilities in the city, but the authorities are doing their best by making arrangements in order to tackle the situation.

Cases of coronavirus have been on a constant rise in India. 266 deaths were recorded in Maharashtra on Thursday and there were 1,498 new cases of coronavirus. The total number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai stands at 97,950 with more than five thousand deaths and 67,830 cases being recovered.

According to data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 56 deaths were recorded in Mumbai on July 16, 2020, 39 patients had co-morbidities. 41 were male and 15 females. 5 people who died were below the age of 40 years, 31 people who died were above the age of 60 years and 20 people who died were between the age of 40 and 60 years.

The recovery rate of the Mumbai district is at 70 per cent, the overall growth rate (July 9- July 15, 2020) is 1.33 per cent and more than 4 lakh tests have been done for coronavirus till July 15, 2020.

India has surpassed the 10 lakh-mark of coronavirus cases with there are currently 3,42,473 active cases in India as per the data of Health and Family Welfare as on the morning of July 17. At the same time, the death toll too has crossed 20,000-mark.
