In recent developments, the doubling rate for COVID-19 in Mumbai has increased by 15 days. According to the latest figures, the doubling rate in Mumbai is currently 55 days.

This comes as good news because If this situation continues to improve, the burden on the healthcare system will be reduced. At the beginning of April, 10,000 new COVID-19 patients were found in Mumbai every day. However, in the last 15 days, the number has been gradually declining and now it has come down to 5,000. This indicates that the situation in Mumbai is improving. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 5,542 new COVID-19 patients were found in Mumbai. This figure is the lowest among the number of patients seen daily in April. Earlier on March 31, 5,394 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Mumbai.

Moreover, the death toll in Mumbai has also been steadily rising in the last few days. A total of 64 people died in Mumbai in the last 24 hours. Also, 36 of them were already suffering from some ailment.

On the other hand, the state, on Sunday, April 25, 2021, informed that one and a half lakh doses of Covishield vaccine have been made available in Mumbai. Keeping this in mind, all vaccination centres in Mumbai will start on Monday, April 26, 2021, confirmed Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal. Although the Covishield vaccine is available, officials have stated that the stocks of Covaxin are still limited, and as a result, the vaccine will only be available at certain centres for those taking the second dose.
