The country is presently under a complete lockdown till May 3. This lockdown has been extended to curb the spread of coronavirus. During this period, the government has ordered the restriction of movement, and only people working in essential services are allowed to travel.

However, to ensure that the businesses providing essential services or regular people going out of their homes to deal with emergencies do not face hassles, several states and union territories are offering e-passes that can be obtained online.

Here is all you need to know about the e-pass and how you can apply for it online:

  • Visit https://covid19.mhpolice.in to apply for the e-pass.
  • Click on the 'Apply here for E-pass' button
  • Fill out the details as per the instructions
  • Upload necessary documents as asked
  • The Maharashtra e-pass website asks for a photo ID proof, valid organisation documents, medical report, and company ID to be attached with the application. 
  • Once you submit the application, it will be reviewed by the local police and then a pass will be issued.
  • In case your application is stuck, you can contact the local police station and resolve the issue.

You can check the status of your application by logging in to the website using the unique ID that has been provided to you. The e-pass can then be printed for use and it is essential to carry the e-pass with you when you leave the house.

Apart from the e-pass website, Delhi government has floated set of WhatsApp numbers where people can send a message to get an e-pass. The applicant has to share his details like name, address, the purpose of visit, period, timing, copy of ID proof and vehicle number to the relevant WhatsApp number. The local authorities will verify all the details and issue the pass on WhatsApp.
