The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India is rising at an exponential pace and Maharashtra is the worst impacted state in the country with the maximum number of cases. 

Update on Friday morning stated that three more people from Dadar tested positive. With this, the total tally of the locality has gone up to 6. These new cases include, two nurses of Shushrusha Hospital aged 27 and 42.; and an 82-year-old man from Kelkar Road.

Following this incident, BMC authorities have shut down Dadar's Shushrusha hospital and have asked the hospital staff to stop taking any new admission, on an immediate basis. They have also been given 48 hours to discharge all the patients. With this movie, Shushrusha hospital becomes the eight in the city to be sealed in the past one week, due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Currently, there are 1,380 positive cases in Maharashtra with the addition of 16 new cases since morning. On Thursday, with 229 cases in a day, Maharashtra had set a national record.  There are stringent measures being deployed to combat the spread of the disease by the government but despite the same, the rate at which these cases continue to increase has become worrisome.

Another problem area for the BMC and Maharashtra government is to curb the spread in Dharavi. Known as the biggest slum in Asia, there have been many concerns regarding the game-plan to contain the spread of the virus in this area. There have been five new COVID-19 cases that have been reported and with this new addition, the total tally of cases from Dharavi has gone up to 22. 

According to the officials, out of these five new cases, two had attended Tablighi Jamaat's event in Nizamuddin, New Delhi. They also figure in the list of police who returned from Markaz. One of them is a resident of Dr Baliga Nagar, while the other is from PMGP colony. 

Two women among the five that tested positive today morning. One of them is 29-years-old and is the wife of a doctor who tested positive earlier in Vaibhav Nagar, while the other, aged 31, is a resident of the Kalyanwadi locality.
