Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra are increasing with every passing day. Data released by the state health department shows that around 370 people infected with the virus, passed away, on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. These figures have raised concerns for the state government and the local bodies.headaches.

However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)  has been fairly successful in controlling the spread of the virus, and as per reports, a total of 1,625 new patients were found in Mumbai on Tuesday, and  47 deaths were recorded due to COVID-19 infection. As of now, Mumbai ranks second among highest coronavirus cases in the state, and Pune division leads the chart.

On the other hand, officials from the concerned department have stated that the number of recovering cases in Maharashtra has increased, and keeping this in mind, the government has succeeded in controlling the deaths too. Data states that the recovery rate in the state has risen to 80 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 47 COVID-19 patients have died in Mumbai. whereas on October 4, a total of 48 people passed away due to the infection. With 1625 new cases, the total number of patients in Mumbai has now reached 2,17,090. Further, 1966 people have been treated successfully and given a discharge from hospitals across the city, and till date, a total of 1,81,485 patients have overcome the infection.

Officials have also confirmed that the state has sufficient stocks of the medicines required for the treatment, and has assured that there no shortage regarding the same. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which controls the sale, distribution and stockpiling of these drugs observed a racket in the black market, following which, directed the officials to take strict action. As of now, the information on the availability, use and balance of Remdesivir injection is accessible in each district and is being monitored by the administration. Officials have also ensured that the distribution of this medicine will be given on request only to the hospitals and institutions in the state.

Furthermore, the administration has taken steps to conduct raids and end crimes related to the matter, and after necessary action, several accused have been arrested by the police. Besides this, the Joint Commissioner, through a letter, has informed that if a patient is not receiving Remedesivir injection as needed, or if the drug is being given through an illegal racket, they can contact the concerned FDA District Office or the control room number to seek help regarding the same. Officials will assist in getting the drug and take action against the reported complaint.
