Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally crosses 18-lakh mark

Out of 1,05,47,333 tests conducted so far, 18,02,365 (17.09 per cent) samples have tested positive in the state.

Maharashtra reported 6,406 new COVID-19 cases, 4,815 recoveries and 65 death on Thursday (November 26) taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,02,365. The total number of recovered patients in Maharashtra stands at 16,68,538, while the death toll is at 46,813. There are 85,963 active cases in the state. Also, there are 5,28,690 people in-home quarantine and 6,644 people in COVID centres.

Maharashtra continues to be one of the most impacted states in India. Globally, more than 6 crore infections and over 14.2 lakh deaths have been reported due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the Reuters tally.

The state is preparing to avoid a second wave. There are various measures being taken to bring down the cases.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had addressed the media a few days ago and requested citizens to follow safety protocol as the vaccine has not arrived in the country, there are chances of the second wave to arrive in the state.

There are also indications that more restrictions may come in place soon to tackle the growing number of cases.
