The Indian Railways is preparing itself for a fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The Central Railway has set aside 1,050 beds to quarantine nCOVID-19 patients across its zone. This consists of cities, Pune and Nagpur where 20 and 4 people have been tested positive respectively. The corporation has prepared the railway workforce to fight against coronavirus by providing them with masks and sanitisers.
CR chief PRO said that no patient has been admitted at these quarantine centres so far but they just have made arrangements to help people affected by the virus.
In Mumbai, the CR has reportedly set up quarantine facilities at railway hospitals and one at Mulund. Meanwhile, Sutar praised the RPF team and said that they were doing a good job. He stated that besides their usual responsibility as a railway police personnel, they had also started stitching masks at Kalyan.
According to WR PRO Ravinder Bhakar, similar workshops were being conducted at Lower Parel where the workforce was making masks and sanitisers. So far, 1,500 masks have been prepared.
He added that 190 litres of sanitiser was prepared using isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, glycol.
Meanwhile, Central and Western Railway have put more than 400 rakes into service to deliver products, coal, fertilisers, and essential commodities to different parts of the country. The locomotives were sent after being disinfected and the staff in them has been practising social distancing.
