A senior railway official elaborated on how the majority of the people at the suburban railway stations are taking the second dose.

With COVID-19 cases surging considerably in Mumbai amid fears of the new variant, Omicron, the Central Railways and Western Railways are vaccinating over 500 people every day at the suburban railway stations in the island city, reports stated. 

Apart from getting vaccinated at some of the most prominent railway stations that include Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Byculla, Parel, Kurla, Matunga, Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala and Igatpuri. Moreover, passengers can also get inoculated at booths set up on Juinagar, Panvel, Dombivli, Vasai, Naigaon, Nala Sopara and Virar railway stations, highlighted accounts. 

Based on narratives the Central and Western Railways with the municipal bodies commenced giving coronavirus vaccine at the suburban railway stations during the second wave in the island city. Now, it has been reported that the speed of the vaccination drive in Mumbai has been fastened in order to prevent the possibility of the third wave. 

According to reports, a senior railway official elaborated on how the majority of the people at the suburban railway stations are taking the second dose.

Zonal railways have been receiving their vaccine doses from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Thane Municipal Corporation(TMC), Kalyan- Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) and Vasai- Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC).

Railway officials remarked that staff has been appointed on a contractual basis to undertake vaccination tasks at the suburban railway stations.
