Central Railway (CR) has achieved notable success in its ongoing efforts to curb ticketless and irregular travel, while implementing special measures to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for passengers during the festive season.
Revenue and Performance (April 2024 – September 2024)
Central Railway generated a total revenue of INR 111.62 crore from 19.09 lakh cases of ticketless/irregular travel and unbooked luggage. This revenue reflects the railway’s focus on ensuring compliance and smooth operations.
Special Ticket Checking Drives for Festive Season
In line with Railway Board directives, Central Railway is conducting Special Ticket Checking Drives during peak travel periods to address unauthorised travel in reserved compartments. The ticket checking drive dates are:
October 1, 2024, to October 15, 2024
October 25, 2024, to November 10, 2024
These drives aim to maintain order during the festival rush and prevent ticketless or unauthorised travel in reserved coaches.
Initiatives for Passenger Comfort and Overcrowding Prevention
To facilitate passengers and ensure a comfortable journey during summer and festive seasons, the Commercial Department has launched the following initiatives:
- Special Drives to Control Overcrowding (since June 14, 2024):
Central Railway identified trains facing overcrowding issues and deployed dedicated Ticket Checking Teams to these routes. These teams are preventing ticketless and unreserved passengers from boarding reserved compartments, directing them to general coaches instead.
- Passenger Management (June 14, 2024 – September 30, 2024):
During this period, 2,54,795 passengers were deboarded or prevented from boarding in 12,930 trains, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free journey for passengers with reserved tickets.
- Deployment of Quick Response Teams:
In anticipation of high passenger volumes, Quick Response Teams have been stationed at key vulnerable stations to manage rush effectively and ensure smooth boarding.
Railway is committed to maintaining efficient services and passenger comfort through rigorous ticket checking and special drives. These efforts will continue through the festive period to prevent unauthorised travel, enhance safety, and provide an enjoyable travel experience for all passengers.
