There has been a remarkable increase in Container loading with cumulative figures of 1.65 MT in 2025-26 as compared to 1.33 MT in 2024-25 and Monthly figures of 0.77 MT during May-2025 as compared to 0.69 MT in May-2024.
May-2025 registered loading of 650 containers as against 595 containers in May-2024.
Among loading of other commodities, for the period April to May-2025. Iron & Steel account for 0.68 MT, Coal accounts for 0.48 MT, Fertilizer accounts for 0.39 MT and other items account for 0.25 MT.
Loading of Coal is also encouraging with loading of 0.34 MT in May-2025 as against 0.31 MT in May-2024.
Among loading of other commodities, for May-2025, Iron & Steel account for 0.31 MT, Fertilizer accounts for 0.21 MT and other items account for 0.14 MT
Mumbai Division has been successful in diverting the freight traffic of HR Coils from road to Rail.
HR Coils which were previously transported by road from Pen to POSCo Steel plant at Mangaon, have now shifted to Rail.
The first container rake from Kalamboli Goods Shed was loaded on 14.05.2025. This Goods Shed was notified as Container Rake Terminal on 30.01.2025. An average of 7 rakes per month is expected to be loaded from Kalamboli Goods Shed.
With various measures undertaken to increase freight loading, Mumbai Division has managed to maintain a consistent improvement in loading performance which has enabled it to achieve significant growth in Freight loadings.
