Central Railway (CR) has achieved remarkable growth in passenger transportation during Financial Year (FY) 2025-26 by registering a steady increase in both suburban and non-suburban segments. Besides, CR has also introduced new trains-both Mail/exp & Suburban, ran Special trains during festivals and introduced new stations & additional halts in FY 2025-26.

Details are as under:

Trains Run:

Central Railway has run approximately 8.33 lakh train services during the FY 2025-26 with Zero Consequential Accidents . These include 6.28 lakh Suburban train services (Mumbai & Pune) & 2.05 lakh Mail/Exp and Passenger train services (All divisions).

Passengers Carried

CR has carried a total of 164.30 Crore passengers  during the Financial year (FY) 2025-26 marking an increase of 1.84 % over 161.33 crore passengers carried last year.

This includes:

  • 143.58 Crore passengers carried in 6.28 lakh suburban trains  in FY2025-26 against 141.98 Crore passengers last year- increase of 1.12%
  • 20.71 Crore passengers carried in 2.05 lakh Mail/Express/Passenger and other non-suburban trains in FY 2025-26 as against 19.34 crore passengers last year- increase of 7.08%.

Additional Stoppages provided

76 additional stoppages have been provided to 33 trains o­n Central Railway for the benefit of passengers.

New Trains

Central Railway has introduced 7 trains o­n different routes during FY 2025-26 which include:

  • The 26101/26102 Pune-Ajni-Pune Vande Bharat Express with effect from 11.08.2025 carrying the total number of Vande Bharat trains o­n CR to 11.
  • 2 Amrit Bharat trains viz- the 11015/11016 LTT-Saharsa-LTT Amrit Bharat Express w.e.f  02.05.2025 & the 11031/11032 Panvel-Alipurduar-Panvel Amrit Bharat Express w.e.f  23.02.2026.
  • In addition the 20495/20496 Hadapsar-Jodhpur-Hadapsar express, 20151/20152 Hadapsar-Rewa-Hadapsar express, 15590/15589 Hadapsar-Muzzafarpur-Hadapsar express & 17426/17425 Sainagar Shirdi-Tirupati-Sainagar Shirdi express were also started in FY 2025-26.

New Suburban Trains

CR has added 10 suburban services o­n the Uran line making the total services o­n the section to 50 and total Suburban services o­n CR to 1820.

Increase in AC locals

14 services o­n the CSMT-Kalyan Main line & 14 services o­n the CSMT-Panvel Harbour line were upgraded  from Non-AC to AC local service making the total AC services o­n CR to 94.

Special Trains

CR in addition to its regular scheduled trains, ran a total of 12032 trips of Special Trains to cater to the increased rush of passengers during festivals. These include:

·326 Ganpati Specials to Konkan

·1712 Durga Puja/Diwali/Chhat Puja Specials,

·1358 Summer Specials,

·1038 Holi Specials,

·122 Ashadi Ekadashi Specials &

·109 Winter Specials.

Besides 23 CR trains were augmented with additional General Second Class Coaches to clear the extra rush of passengers during the period April 2025 to March 2026.

CR in collaboration with IRCTC ran 18 Tourist Trains including 18 Bharat Gaurav Trains and 7 Mukhya Mantri Teerth Darshan Yojana trains as part of the Bharat Gaurav Teerth Yatra project of the Ministry of Railways.

New Stations

7 new stations have been operationalized o­n CR

  • 2 o­n the suburban section in Mumbai viz-Gavan & Targhar and
  • 5 o­n the Amalner-Beed line viz- Jatanandur, Vighanwadi, Raimoha, Rajuri(Navgan) & Beed.

Station development & Increase in Speed of trains

12 stations have been redeveloped and speed of 77 pair of   trains have been increased from 110kmph to 130kmph during FY 2025-26.

CR remains committed to providing safe, comfortable, economical, reliable, and efficient transportation to all its passengers and continues to strengthen its services to meet rising commuter expectations.
