The Central Railway (CR)'s Mumbai division is going to change its timetable starting in August. The goal is to reduce congestion at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and improve local train services.

Five pairs of fast local trains that currently start and end at CSMT will now originate and terminate at Dadar station. Moving these fast local services to Dadar will increase commuter convenience.

This is because during the evening rush hours, boarding locals from Dadar becomes challenging. Trains departing from CSMT are crowded when they reach Byculla.

Central Railway also plans to extend five pairs of local trains till Kalyan, which currently ends at Thane. This comes after requests from travellers in Kalva, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivli. The change will provide direct service to commuters in these areas.

Additionally, one extra-fast local train will halt at Mumbra and Kalva. Sources indicate these changes will take effect with the release of the new schedule in early August. The main goal of these schedule changes is to improve passenger efficiency and comfort.
