Dadar – One of the most iconic heritage near Dadar market is Dadar Kabutar Khana. The famous Kabutar Khana is in dishevelled condition nowadays. The tiles adjacent to railings are broken. From past many days, water is clogging inside causing the bad smell. Four to five drums have been placed for the pigeons to drink.
When contacted Assistant Commissioner G/North Ward, Ramakant Biradar about messy condition of Kabutar Khana he stated, “Kabutar Khana is the prominent place in Mumbai, BMC will take quick action to facelift the structure.”
Kabutar Khana was built in the year 1933, i.e. 84 years ago. Around 3,000 – 4,000 pigeons were fed with about huge quantity of grains including Chana (roasted chickpea), Jowar and Makai (Maize). It has been listed as grade 2 heritage structure.
