The Dahisar toll plaza, located at the gateway to Mira-Bhayander city, is causing massive traffic congestion and wastage of fuel while entering the Mumbai metropolitan area. Also, pollution from vehicles is harming the environment. Therefore, Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has requested Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to shift the Dahisar toll plaza to a location two km away from there, in front of the Western Hotel.

In this context, Sarnaik highlighted that during Eknath Shinde’s tenure as Chief Minister, several toll plazas across the state were removed, and toll charges for small vehicles were waived at all plazas. This move was widely appreciated by the public. He added that the Dahisar toll plaza, in particular, has been a major source of traffic congestion, affecting over 1.5 million residents, drivers, and commuters from Mira-Bhayandar as well as those travelling into Mumbai.

This is increasing travel time and wasting fuel. Therefore, if the demand is accepted, local citizens will get the benefit of toll-free travel and the traffic pressure will be reduced, the Transport Minister expressed confidence. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde assured Sarnaik that a meeting will be held soon to resolve the issue of shifting the Dahisar toll plaza in front of the Western Hotel.

It takes about two to three hours to reach Andheri from Dahisar during rush hour. If the toll plaza at Dahisar is closed, it will be easier to travel, he added.
