On Monday, December 13, morning, the 40-year-old resident of Dharavi who had tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19, tested negative, highlighted reports. The man had returned from Tanzania on December 10.

He is the fourth individual in the island city who tested negative for coronavirus after testing positive for the Omicron variant. According to reports, in the past two weeks, an aggregate of five patients tested positive for Omicron and were admitted to the civic hospital.

Civic officials have elaborated that from those admitted to the civic hospital, four have tested negative, whilst three have been discharged. The patient from Dharavi hasn’t been discharged yet since he is under further observation.

On December 4, the resident of Dharavi had landed in Mumbai. After he was found positive for coronavirus, he was shifted to Seven Hills Hospital. Post this, further tests reaffirmed him being infected with the Omicron variant.

Dr Balkrishna Adsul, dean of Seven Hills Hospital where the Omicron patients are undergoing treatment was quoted by narratives elaborating on how according to the regular procedure, the patient took his RT-PCR test that came out negative. Adding that he hasn’t been discharged yet.

Based on accounts, the executive health officer in BMC Dr Mangla Gomare elaborated that no patient has tested positive for the Omicron variant twice so far.
