The road in the Gadkari Rangayatan and Talaopali areas, which are the busiest in Thane, was blocked on Tuesday night. A drainage chamber on the side of the road collapsed, leaving a hole about ten feet deep on the road. No one was injured in the accident. A hazard strip has been installed in the area where the hole occurred to prevent accidents.


Gadkari Rangayatan Theatre is known as the cultural center of Thane city. This theatre is located next to Masunda Lake. The roads in this area are connected to the Thane station area. Therefore, there is continuous traffic on this road. Meanwhile, it was revealed on Tuesday night that a drainage chamber on the side of this road had collapsed, leaving a hole approximately ten feet deep on the road. However, the cause of the road collapse is not known. The incident occurred on the side of the road and the rest of the road has been kept open for traffic.

The lid of a drainage chamber on Dr. Muz Road, opposite HDFC Bank, next to Gadkari Rangayatan Theatre, collapsed, leaving a pit approximately ten feet deep on the road. After receiving information from local residents, the Executive Engineer (Drainage Department) of the Naupada Kopri Ward Committee and the staff of the Disaster Management Cell rushed to the spot.

For safety reasons, Disaster Management Cell staff have barricaded and installed a hazard barrier at the site of the sinkhole. The Thane Disaster Management Department informed that the relevant department has been informed about this and instructions have been given to those concerned for action.
