On January 8, the second dry run campaign for COVID-19 vaccination will take place in all 30 districts and 25 municipal areas of Maharashtra. The dry run will be conducted at three health institutions in each district and one health institution in each corporation, informed Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

According to reports, the dry run will be conducted at three healthcare centres in each district and one centre in municipal corporation limits.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said the dry run will help the administration find out any logistical issues, including the usefulness of the CoWin app, before the actual vaccination roll-out starts.

A statement from the health department said the dry run will show if problems exist in storage, supply and administration, and these will be ironed out. The statement said it will help check out how convenient and useful the CoWin app. Besides that, it will help the planning, implementation and reporting of coronavirus vaccination, verification and inspection of all these matters, before starting the actual vaccination.

Rajesh Tope during a video conference with Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan demanded Centre make arrangements to provide the vaccine free of cost to the needy people. He said the data of 8 lakh health workers in Maharashtra, including those employed in government and private sectors, is already uploaded on CO-WIN application developed for mass vaccination.

Meanwhile, the first dry run campaign has been launched on January 2 in Pune, Nandurbar, Jalna, Nagpur districts as well as Nagpur and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation areas.
