Thane city traffic police have announced traffic restrictions and diversion routes in Mumbra and the Vitthalwadi sub-division in view of Eid-e-Milad processions on August 26. The restrictions will come into effect from 2 pm on August 26 and remain in place until the processions conclude.
Heavy Vehicles Barred From Entering Mumbra
Heavy vehicles coming towards Mumbra via Retibunder and Y-Junction through Kalsekar College will not be allowed to enter the city. Heavy vehicles have been advised to use the Mumbra bypass to reach their destinations.
Government and private buses approaching Mumbra through Retibunder and Y-Junction will also be prohibited from entering the city. Passengers travelling on these routes will have to be dropped off at designated points, after which buses will either return or take the Mumbra bypass.
Traffic To Be Diverted In Stages In Vitthalwadi-Ulhasnagar
Traffic in Vitthalwadi and Ulhasnagar will be stopped or diverted in phases as the procession moves through the area.
The procession route will be:
Nehru Nagar (Ulhasnagar-5) → Vasant Bahar Chowk → Old Bus Stop → Main Road → Road in front of Hill Line Police Station → Netaji Chowk → Bhatia Chowk → Kurla Camp Road → Samta Nagar Road → Kailas Colony.
A 'No Parking' restriction will remain in force along the entire procession route. Motorists have been advised not to park on the main roads and instead use authorised parking spaces available on adjoining roads and alternative lanes.
Emergency Services Exempted
Police vehicles, fire brigade vehicles and ambulances will be exempted from the traffic restrictions. Citizens travelling through Thane, Mumbra, Kalyan and Ulhasnagar have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, use the bypass and alternative routes wherever possible, and cooperate with traffic police.
