Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next month, under its new slogan “Accessible Elections”, the Election Commission rolled out an app which will help more than two lakh differently-abled voters in Maharashtra to use special facilities available at the poll booth.

The EC informed that the registered 2.24 lakh differently-abled voters will be able to take advantage of facilities such as wheelchairs, ramps, and transport in the state. 

These facilities will be provided to the voters under the new EC slogan “Accessible Elections.” Of the registered differently-abled voters, 37,324 are visually impaired while 18,022 voters are physically challenged.

The Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra will commence from April 11 and will be held in four phases. The EC has initiated an app called “PWD” to make these elections accessible for the voters who are differently abled. This app is available on the Google play store.
