As the Ganesh Utsav 2019 celebrations kicked off in Mumbai, the rains made a sudden comeback that lashed several parts of Mumbai and surrounding areas. The persistent rainfall has resulted in waterlogging at numerous spots in the city. Amidst heavy rains, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanway Samiti has appealed to the Ganpati mandals across the city to shut their power supply to avoid any untoward incidents.

Since the last 24 hours, the city has received intense rainfall due to which, the Western Railway local train service was adversely affected. Meanwhile, Samanway Samiti has directed the mandals to ensure that there are no live wires left unattended.

Samanway Samiti President, Naresh Dahibavkar asked the Ganpati mandals to take necessary precautions to ensure that the festivities do not end up tragically.

Earlier, Mumbai Police too had released a timetable displaying the high tide timings. Mumbai Police had asked the citizens going for Ganpati Visarjan to plan the immersion ritual accordingly.

On the other hand, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an Orange Alert for Mumbaikars. .
