Two days ago, a gas tanker overturned on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, causing a serious emergency. Passengers were stranded for over several hours. Considering potential future risks, Advocate Ashish Shelar, Guardian Minister of the Mumbai Suburban District, stated that relevant agencies will submit proposals focusing on improving emergency management on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Versova-Bandra-Worli Sea Link, and the entire Coastal Road.

In a statement sent to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Advocate Shelar stated that responding quickly and effectively in the event of an accident, fire, or natural disaster on such vital roads can be a significant challenge, especially since the Coastal Road is an underground and sea route. Immediate hospitalisation of the injured, rapid deployment of security forces, and access to emergency services are crucial. In this context, it has been proposed to construct a helipad near the Sea Link in the Bandra Reclamation area and take necessary action, including securing the necessary space for the helipad.

In the event of an emergency on the Coastal Road and Sea Link, the injured will be immediately airlifted to hospitals. Coordination between disaster management, police, fire brigade, NDRF, and other systems will be made more effective. Guardian Minister Advocate Shelar stated that steps are being taken to strengthen long-term emergency planning for a densely populated financial capital like Mumbai.
