Despite the job and unemployment crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic, a total of 33,799 unemployed people have got employment in the month of January and February this year, said Nawab Malik, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The minister said that the jobs were given on the basis of online employment fairs organised by the Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department and various initiatives being implemented through the Mahaswayam web portal.

In May last year, the Department of Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship had launched a web portal https://rojgar.mahaswayam.gov.in to connect unemployed candidates and entrepreneurs. The website was developed for getting employment opportunities and entrepreneurship available at companies and industrial units in the state.

Unemployed candidates register on this web portal with information about their education, skills, experience etc.

Apart from this, companies, entrepreneurs, corporates who are looking for skilled candidates can also search for their desired candidates by registering on this web portal. In this way, coordination work is done between unemployed candidates and entrepreneurs through this web portal.

Meanwhile, In January 20,713 people were given jobs and 13,086 people got employment in February.

Malik informed that as many as February, 35,918 job seekers had registered or re-registered in February. Of these, 10, 481 candidates registered in the Mumbai division, 4,773 in the Nashik division, 11,142 in the Pune division, 5,692 in the Aurangabad division, 1,346 in the Amravati division and 2,484 in Nagpur.

He stated that the candidates are getting a good response to these various initiatives in the state and extensive efforts are being made by the department to provide them employment.
