Fire at Malad’s Madh Jetty burns around 40 huts to the ground

When the fire broke out, luckily there were no people in the huts. Majority of the slum-dwellers are fishermen and therefore, they had gone out to fish. Due to which, no casualties have been reported so far

At around 12:30 pm on Monday afternoon, a short circuit led to a fire at Malad’s Madh Jetty. The fire eventually grew so big that the slum area near the jetty witnessed burning of 30-40 huts. However, the fire department was contacted immediately and a rescue team with six water tankers doused the fire after toiling for two hours.

As per the local residents, when the fire broke out, luckily there were no people in the huts. Majority of the slum-dwellers are fishermen and therefore, they had gone out to fish. Due to which, no casualties have been reported so far. However, the slum dwellers have faced a huge loss of property. 

Meanwhile, a mobile tower and property worth lakhs of rupees have been reported to be damaged due to the fire caused by a short circuit at Malad. The fire was classified as a Level-0 fire.
