On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a building under construction in central Mumbai. The fire at the building located near Kamala Mills compound was brought under control after four fire engines were pressed into service. No injuries have been reported.

Last year, on December 29, a major fire was reported at two rooftop restaurants-- Mojo's Bistro and '1 Above'-- in the Kamala Mills compound, claiming 14 lives and many were injured. 

In the last two weeks, Mumbai witnessed different fire incidents where around 20 people lost their lives and over 150 were injured.

On Thursday, a massive fire broke out on the 10th floor of Sargam society in Chembur where five people lost their lives. Prior to this incident, another fire broke out in Bhendi Bazar's Dongri Jail Road. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Likewise, on December 17, ten people lost their lives after a major fire at a government-run hospital in Andheri. Here, ESIC Kamgar hospital did not have fire department's no-objection certificate that was mandatory for such institutes in order to function. Nearly 375 people, including patients and visitors, were present in five-storey hospital when the fire broke out.
