Fire breaks out at Nagpur's Well Treat Hospital; Four deaths reported

As per reports, the private hospital is a COVID-19 centre. Four have passed away in the incident which was reported at 8:45 pm on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Fire breaks out at Nagpur's Well Treat Hospital; Four deaths reported

A massive fire broke out at a Well Treat Hospital in Nagpur's Wadi area, and  four people have died. It is said that the incident was reported at around 8.45 pm, on Friday, April 9, 2021.

Talking to ANI, a senior official said, "Around 27 patients at the hospital were shifted to other hospitals. We can't comment on their health condition now. Hospital has been evacuated."

Officials have stated that rescue teams and fire brigade rushed to the spot after receiving information, and the process to douse the fire began thereafter. While four (three men and a woman) have passed away, the condition of two patients is said to be critical. 

Sharing more information, Nagpur Municipal Corporation's (NMC) chief fire officer Rajendra Uchke, in a media interview said, "The fire reportedly started from an AC unit of the ICU located on the second floor of the hospital. The blaze remained confined to that floor and did not spread further."

It is said that the incident caused chaos at the hospital and civilians had started fleeing. As the fire broke out, all the patients in the hospital were immediately shifted elsewhere and the building was completely evacuated. The fire was brought under control and the cooling operation is currently underway. As of now, 27 patients from the hospital have been shifted to another hospital and their health status is unknown.

President Ram Nath Kovind, took to Twitter, and said, "The loss of lives in a hospital fire at Nagpur in Maharashtra is distressing. I convey my deep sympathies to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in this accident."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Saddened by the hospital fire in Nagpur. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives. Praying that the injured recover at the earliest."

"Pained to know about the hospital fire incident at Wadi in Nagpur. Spoke to Nagpur Collector and he told that all the assistance is being provided. Heartfelt condolences to families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Praying for speedy recovery of the injured," said Former CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis.

A few days ago, similar incident was reported at Bhandup-based Sunrise COVID Hospital whereby ten patients had lost their lives. Post this, on April 4, 2021, another fire broke out at the Jumbo COVID Center in Dahisar where fifty patients were evacuated immediately. Meanwhile, on April 6, a fire broke out at a private COVID center in Nashik's Chandwad area, where fire incident was reported on the same day the COVID center was expected to begin the operations.
