The occurrence of fire incidents in Mumbai is more than usual. With fire incidents happening in narrow areas, it takes time for the fire brigade to reach the spot. In order to strengthen the fire department and control the fire incidents in the city, the brigade has decided to purchase fire drones for better vigilance.
This move will cost the fire department almost ₹177 crore. In the fiscal budget presented by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday, ₹201 crore were allocated to fire brigade for utilising the funds to purchase equipment.
Along with this, the fire department has decided to construct a modern training centre for training the workers in Thakur Village, Kandivali. In order to provide better training, the firemen will be provided with the task to save a building and a man during the fire incident.

The civic body has provided a total of ₹495 crore to the fire department in its budget for the financial year 2019-20. The brigade is constructing 17 small fire station in different areas to be more efficient in their tasks. Of the 17, 13 fire stations have already been constructed.
