Fire breaks out at Bank of India branch in Churchgate

The fire broke out at around 11:00 pm on Wednesday night and since the bank was closed at night, no one knew about it until Thursday morning. Luckily, no casualty or injury has been reported

On a fateful Wednesday night, a fire broke out in a building in Churchgate. The incident happened in the building that houses the Bank of India (BOI) Churchgate branch and as the news of the fire came in, at least a dozen fire engines were rushed to the spot.

According to the fire station officials, the bank's shutter was closed when the incident took place. Luckily, no employees were hurt as the fire broke out after work hours. However, the next morning, when the employees reached the office, they saw smoke after they lifted the shutter.

Accordingly, they managed to break the glass and enter inside, only to discover a lot of things and papers had been damaged by the fire. The damaged items comprised of records, documents, furniture, along with the wirings of the bank.

Meanwhile, the fire was doused after hours of struggle and the officials called it a Level 2 fire. As per an initial investigation, the primary cause for the fire is being termed as a short circuit.
