As per reports, five people drowned near Kalmandvi waterfall near Jawhar town in Maharashtra's Palghar district. According to a tweet by the Press Trust of India (PTI), the incident took place while these people were capturing selfie. The incident took place on Thursday afternoon.
A group of 13 people had gone to Kalmandvi waterfalls which is located in the outskirts of Jawhar district. Two men who were clicking selfie slipped and the other three dived to recuse them. All five of them drowned in the incident. The diseased have been identified as Prathamesh Chavan (20), Devendra Wagh (28), Nimesh Patel (28), Devendra Faltankar (19) and Rinku Bhoir (20). A case of accidental death was registered, the official added.
With the existing condition of the pandemic and the monsoon hitting the state. It is important to take every possible precaution and not venture out if not important. The lockdown in Maharashtra has been extended till 31st July.
