Mumbai-Pune expressway accident: Six killed, five injured

In a major mishap that took place on Mumbai Pune Expressway, at least six people have been killed and five others are injured. According to police, four of the deceased were members of the same family.

It is being reported that the accident took place around 12:45 am on Tuesday near Khalapur toll plaza. Five vehicles were involved in this accident. The reason for the collision is being touted as a break failure of a speeding truck. The driver subsequently lost control over his vehicle and resulted in this accident.

A veterinary doctor working with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC)  along with his family members, was travelling in one of the cars. He has been identified as Vaibhav Jhunjare. He along with his family members died in the accident. The accident took place when Vaibhav Jhunjare was travelling in his private car towards Navi Mumbai. His mother, wife and daughter were killed. Jhunjare had gone to a village in Solapur to pick up his family. Since he was a corona warrior, he had requested his parents and wife and kid to be in their house in the village. he kept his mother, father, wife and children in the village as he was also responsible for corona control.

The truck driver has also lost his life. Four people who succumbed to the hospital were brought to Khopoli Municipal Hospital, while one of them died at the hospital. The other members who are injured are currently in the hospital. 

Soon after the accident, the ambulance, highway team, and police rushed to the spot. However, the damage was already done. Even the vehicles were completely damaged.
