Chief Minister Eknath Shinde performed the bhoomi pujan of various projects of Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy & Infrastructure Technology Limited (MahaPreit). Also, an MoU has been signed with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to set up a 2500 MW floating solar project. As per the MoU with BMC, a floating solar project will be installed on the surface of seven reservoirs supplying water to Mumbai to generate 2500 MW of power. These reservoirs include Bhatsa, Tansa, Modak-Sagar, Middle Vaitarna, Vihar, Tulsi and Powai.


From the power generation of this project, 50% of the power demand of Mumbai city will be met through solar green energy. This type of project is going to be the biggest project of India. As a result of the MoU signed with Konkan Railway, a supplementary cold storage facility of two thousand tonnes of export-oriented agricultural produce is being constructed in the Integrated Cold Storage Project.

Therefore, it will be of great help to farmers and Koli farmers for long term storage and preservation of perishable agricultural produce and fish produced in Konkan as well as for export. Therefore, this will definitely help in raising the economic level. In this, employment opportunities will be available to backward class elements on priority basis.


This project has received assistance from the Ministry of Panchayat Raj of the Central Government. This project will be implemented in the next 120 villages in future. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched the scheme to provide capital-free rooftop solar plants to small and medium enterprises. Initially, approximately 400 MW of rooftop solar energy will be generated through this scheme. Therefore, a large number of small and medium enterprises will benefit from getting cheap electricity.
