According to the latest reports, nearly 13 passengers were injured because a SpiceJet Mumbai-Durgapur flight witnessed severe turbulence when it was descending at the destination. 

Based on accounts, the Boeing 737 (VT-SLH) was functioning as SG-945 when it faced turbulence while flying. A senior aviation official was quoted in narratives elaborating on how while the aircraft landed safely at the destination, Durgapur, 13 passengers were severely injured.

The official added that later the passengers were taken to a hospital wherein they were provided with medical assistance on arrival.

On the other hand, reports have cited a SpiceJet spokesperson elucidating that on Sunday, May 1, 2022, SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight SG-945 from Mumbai to Durgapur which is in West Bengal faced severe turbulence during descent. 

The spokesperson further uttered that owing to the turbulence, a few passengers sustained injuries. Therefore, prompt medical assistance was accorded to them upon arrival in Durgapur. The company then went on to voice their regret at the mishap and remarked that it is offering all the requisite medical assistance to the injured. 

It has been reported that the DGCA will be probing the incident. Some accounts claim that travellers sustained injuries after cabin luggage fell on them resulting in head injuries to certain flyers.
