Food Testing (Microbiology) Laboratory has been constructed by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Food and Drug Administration, Maharashtra State at Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the television system on Sunday, February 25, 2024 evening.


To strengthen the food testing system in the country, microbiology laboratories have been established in the state under the Mobile Food Testing Lab Scheme of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, New Delhi (FSSAI). A total fund of INR 450 lakh has been given by the Central Government to set up a microbiology laboratory in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai.

The School of Food Testing (Microbiology) established in Mumbai has state-of-the-art facilities to ensure food safety. The laboratory has state-of-the-art facilities for microbiological analysis of food samples and will be staffed with highly skilled technical staff.


Laboratory milk and milk products, water, spices, fruit and vegetable products and meat and meat products etc. Equipped to analyze microbial contamination in food. In this laboratory it will be possible to analyze more and more samples in less time.
