Four people were left injured when an elevator in a housing society collapsed. All four were admitted to Rajawadi Hospital and are now said to be stable.
According to police reports, the incident took place around 8:00 pm, on Monday. Four residents of the seven-story Shantinagar Police Housing Society entered into the elevator which was descending. Suddenly, the iron cable broke and the elevator fell down with a huge sound. Hearing the sound, the residents of the building rushed to the spot and took injured Rupali Gaikawad (23), Sunita Ingle (28), Komal Dalvi (18) and Vinayak Dalvi (43) to the hospital.
Akhilesh Singh, DyCP (Zone 7) informed that one of the four was seriously injured and is being treated at Rajawadi Hospital but is now said to be out of danger. He added that they are investigating the elevator collapse.
In another incident, 60-year-old Radhye Shaam Harijan, died when the elevator collapsed in Everest Apartment society. The incident took place around 8:49 am on Tuesday when the elevator collapsed and Harijan who was in the elevator was injured. He was immediately taken to Bhabha Hospital where he passed away during treatment, confirmed Dr. Rohan.
